Need help picking a major/classes

I'll be a student at Duke next year but I unfortunately have no direction or anything and need some help. I am like 95% sure I will be going to law school after duke and after talking to the pre-law dean I have learned that Duke does very well among top law schools like harvard and nyu. Honestly, I feel like I am at duke for the purpose of just getting into the best law school possible.

So, I really need help picking a major. I really feel uncertain about everything especially my experience at duke next year. I want to do something that is actually useful but won't ruin my gpa for law school. People ask me what I am interested in, but honestly I'm not really interested in any of the majors, which is really sad. I just want to go to law school.

I've looked into Public Policy along with Economics but I realize that economics has the potential to ruin by gpa, espeically with intro classes. Other than that I really have no clue what to do...

If anyone could help me out that would be great, and along with that, what classes would be advantageious to take first year to get gen eds out of the way that go along with the path that many pre law students take. thank you

The good thing about law schools is that they really don't care what classes you take.

Why not just take the classes that interest you? I'm sure that your GPA will be high enough if you are interested in the classes that you take.

I wouldn't do economics unless you really want a career that involves a lot of business. Political science is popular for pre-law, public policy also. You might want to try psych (#92 is a good start), sociology, or English since the choice of major doesn't really matter for law school.

how hard would it be to major in psychology and public policy. how hard are these majors independently?
