Need help playing the game

<p>Waitlisted from a small selective LAC (just want to get in to make a grandparent happy, probably won't go there...I think they waitlisted me to measure interest because my stats more than match up)</p>

<p>They gave me a waitlist update form that asks why you want to go here, what have you done lately, etc</p>

<p>I could send the update/reply card April 20th and call to say "i like your school" around April 25th or I could send the update/reply card May 1st and call around May 5th. </p>

<p>Which is better to do? I'm thinking if I do it early, I will stand out from all the others who do it May 1st. On the other hand, I want to be fresh in their memory when they decide.</p>

<p>If you're not interested in going there, can't you give up your spot on the waitlist for someone who actually cares about the school? From your post it seems as if you're trophy hunting, which is really insensitive and a waste of everyone's time.</p>

<p>my grandma is terminal and it is a "nothing would make me prouder than you getting into my alma matter" sort of thing.</p>
