I accidentally missed my enrollment deposit day (May 1). Am I utterly screwed? I've just been so busy with finals and working on graduation this semester that the day slipped my mind completely. I mailed a letter to them today, but I just hope that I get a response quick. Can anyone offer an input? It feels like I've worked hard for 2 years at my CC just to come full circle like this.

Why did you not pick up your cell phone and call today when the offices were open?

Did you try to enroll on line and it was deactivated?

It’s really up to them as whether or not they will accept it. There is nothing we can do for you. You should have at least asked for an extension. How could something that important “slip your mind”?

Here is some info:

https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/845/~/late-submission-of-an-enrollment-deposit

@Miw140 well I got accepted around April 25 and I was waiting for another acceptance letter from a different college around May 5, so that’s how it “slipped my mind”. Second, if it was SO important why didn’t I receive an email clarifying anything about this? I got a little email about my acceptance, and at THE VERY BOTTOM it said, oh and don’t forget your enrollment deposit! First time I’ve applied to a University, and I only applied to two, I had an understanding that I already paid a fee for the application. I called yesterday, well, I had my father call, I don’t own a cell phone. They just sent him an email to the link you just sent me.

@momofthreeboys I had my father call yesterday. I’m in a dorm room! I can’t drive; my phone’s charger is at my house. I don’t even have postage for crying out loud to send a letter, I had to send my father the letter so he could mail it.

I’m only a day late. My dad sent the letter with overnight delivery. Are they really going to not accept my enrollment? This is so very saddening to me. I really have a lot going on.

If you receive the admission notice after April 15, I think you would have an extended time to confirm your admission. I read somewhere 3 weeks from the date of admission notice, but I cannot find the reference right now.

@billcsho my parents did think it was fairly odd that I was given such a small time frame to make my decision. I barely had a week to respond. Hopefully what you say is true, and if it is, then I was unfairly locked out of making an enrollment deposit.

But please acknowledge this is your mistake…don’t expect the school to remind you…they, quite honestly, don’t care if you respond…they have plenty of others to accept their offer. It is only SO important to you - not them. No excuses- no stamp, no phone charger, no car, too much work, forgot…these do not bode well for success. Move forward and fix it.

@Sdgal2 Really no excuses? There is nothing BUT excuses, it is only how you see them that makes them appear either valid or invalid. I’m not making excuses, they are excuses. Excuses, as in EXCUSE me? Like I give a damn what you think. You’re not a person who accepts appeals by any chance? No, I didn’t think so… so back off. I don’t need any of your “well guided” lip on success. They aren’t excuses; that’s honesty, my friend!

Please feel free NOT to comment on this topic if you’re not going to offer advice, I have enough to worry about. People on CC can be extremely egocentric, so if you’re not going to offer support then leave. I’ll admit it’s a mistake.

EDIT: I had SIX days to make my payment - SIX. I got the email on April 25. If you’re going to sit there and type that those “excuses” I made are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too out there to be valid then that’s immature. That’s barely enough time to think because of finals.

In fact, I think I’m going to call them again and see if what @billcsho is true.

It does not appear that you have checked the website to see what the enrollment deposit policy is. Instead of getting angry at the responses, you should do a little research to help yourself:

http://www.admissions.umich.edu/drupal/enrollment-deposit

The following is taken from this web page. Call on Monday to see if you were assigned an extended due date.

Enrollment Deposit Deadlines

If you’re mailing your payment, the EDR form must be postmarked by the following deadlines:

Winter 2014—December 1, 2013

Spring 2014—April 1, 2014

Summer 2014—May 1, 2014

Fall 2014—May 1, 2014

Note: If your admission package arrives too close to the above due dates, we’ll establish an extended due date for you.

@jseg11 I’m sorry for getting angry. I’m very upset right now, not to mention embarrassed.

Look, I would like to apologize to everyone. I’m sorry for being rude. This isn’t like me to act like this because I’m usually a very calm person. I try to do everything on time, but my acceptance letter when to my parent’s house. I tell my parents not to open my mail, and my online acceptance letter came with just information on my transferred credits. I didn’t get to read my letter in time, and I had my father try to pay a day after the deadline but couldn’t. So again, I’m sorry for being rude. I’m going to end my responses before this topic gets me into any more trouble.

UPDATE: Just figured out my acceptance letter came 2 days after I was accepted, which I believe had the info in it about the enrollment deposit. If I’m basing my deadline on the letter, I technically only had 4 days to pay the enrollment deposit. So yes, I’ll call on Monday.

If you are a transfer student you might have completely different deadlines - you might find information on the Michigan website or in the Wolverine portal.

I just checked again. It seems unless it said on the admission package with an extended deadline, you need to confirm admission by May 1. The 2 weeks (not 3 weeks) response period after admission notice is only for those receive the admission after May 1. Anyway, you should call the office as the admission notice is indeed very close to the deadline, although it is totally feasible for you to response in time.

I was only telling you to move forward…fix your mistake, not dwell on the reasons…good luck!
