need help please

so i am a second year at a CCC on a quarter system. I applied to the UC's as a business economics major and am taking second quarter of calculus right now. the class is damn hard so i am thinking of dropping, but the main reason i am thinking of dropping is that after doing this math, i realized that i do not want to be doing a lot of math in my major, so im thinking of changing my major to business administration. the problem is, if i drop now, i would receive a W and will only have 8 quarter units this quarter. would that look really bad? I dont mind staying an extra quarter or 2. Also, since i applied this time around, can i just deny all the acceptances i recieve, then reapply to some of the same schools as a new major, with my requirements done?

thanks

one W doesn't look bad. yay for not making yourself suffer in a class you don't wanna be in! if the schools admit you, you don't have to accept. just don't do the follow ups. just apply when you're ready, take your time.. there's no rush. that's what i learned. i was so set on leaving CC so quick i almost went to SFSU in a rush. but i decided to stay another semester. i'm much more happier now going at my own pace. good luck!

thanks, anybody else?

Ws are not recommended

Please see my response to the W question in another thread at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/648701-part-time-w.html
Going part time should also not become an issue with the UC's. As long as you are meeting our admissions requirements we don't consider if you completed at a part time status or a full time status.

... but you do consider 'rigor of coursework', or something along those lines. doesn't that coincide with how many units you're taking at a time? more specifically, >12 or <12?

if you're taking less 8 units because your'e working they're not gonna hold it against you. If you're taking 8 units and you don't have any extracurricular activities then thats just lazy.
