I need opinions please! I'm interested in becoming a criminal attorney or a career in law enforcement. I'm both equally interested in USC's public policy program and UC Berkeley's legal studies. Which do you recommend???

Thanks

I don't know what "legal studies" are, but I wouldn't recommend it. Choose a major that you enjoy. There is no required curriculum to get into law school. I went to law school with engineers, doctors and veterinarians, and students who majored in everything from fine arts to organic chemistry to economics. If you major in a subject that you are passionate about, you're likely to do well, and doing well is the best way to help yourself get into law school. Take courses that interest you. Try different things. Figure out what you are good at and what interests you and work hard at it.

Good luck to you!

Legal studies is a law focused undergraduate program taught entirely by Boalt professors. They advise students to double major with something else if they are considering law school after undergrad. Not all do this, I believe. It's a great double or minor (I think that's available) if you get a solid letter of rec from a law prof, and it can satisfy one's law desire temporarily, or make them realize they don't want to study ti . . . shrug I agree with sallycornellgrad, though.

The problem for me is that I'm interested in criminal justice but only cal states offer degrees in C. J. and i would perfer going to a UC over a cal state. I found legal studies to be closley related to C. J. HMMMM Maybe i should double major in Sociology and legal studies.

I think that UCI has criminal studies. Check into it.

Isn't Criminal Justice mainly for aspiring police officers?

^ or crime scene investigators.

UC Irvine has a criminology, law and society major. You should major in whatever you want ... law school look at your GPA and LSAT. My friend is a crim major with a high gpa and good lsats and got into stanford law. If you want to be a police officer you generally go into the police academy

police officers do go to the academy BUT having a BA is more money a month and having an education would make a better officer. As for criminology, not interested in behavior of criminals but the criminal prosses it self. Honestly, law is my passion. Public policy is finding solutions to societys issues (New laws) and legal studies is the history philiospy etc of law. Just need some opinions on both majors and which would be best since i'm equally interested in both for a pre-law major
