I am transfer student from community college for Fall 2009, and my major is computer science engineering. I have question about the maximum allowable unit that UC accept. I begin to take class at Fall 2006 and will have 99 semester unit till Spring 2009 (I just know that the maximum they allow is 90 unit). I completed most of the classes listing in assist.org and IGTEC. Will my over-exceeding unit affect my chance? If yes, is there anything I can do? Thank you!

If all your units are from a community college then you will not exceed the unit cap.

there is no max for CC students. take 10000 units at CC they still do not count against you, but the most that will be accepted for transfer is 105 quarter units, anything after that you get SUBJECT credit for but no UNIT credit

Subject credit just means that they acknowledge that you took that class and you can use it to satisfy any prequisites or requirements BUT it doesnt go toward your unit count.

That is why my friend told me. However, I just saw this message in UC site.

Keep in mind that most UC campuses admit a limited number of lower division transfer students. This means that, in most cases, you should plan on completing at least 60 semester (90 quarter) units before you transfer. In addition, most campuses don’t admit students with 90 semester (135 quarter) units or more.

Thats referring to students from four year colleges.

"Students who have attended only a community college will be granted subject credit, but not unit credit, for appropriate two-year college coursework taken in excess of the community college 70-unit limit; such subject credit may be used to satisfy/complete requirements."

It is because of the rule posted ^ by JetForcegeminix that students with only two year college units will never reach the the 90 (sometimes 80 like UC Davis) semester rule posted ^^ by 4759693.
