I'd love to submit my application tonight, and I have all of the pieces in place. However, when I copy-paste my essays in to the allotted space, all of the formatting goes away. My title is not centered, there are no paragraphs, etc. Furthermore, when I try to press "tab" after copy-pasting to attempt to add paragraphs, I cannot do it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Do you have a different browser? I had a formatting issue using Internet Explorer but when I tried it with Firefox it worked fine.

If not, maybe try pasting each paragraph individually and tab-ing? Worst case scenario is put spaces intead of a tab, but make sure to preview it.

I had the same problem for my UT essays. I figured that it couldn’t just be me, so I took a leap of faith and assumed their admissions officers would be used to it. So I settled on putting an extra line after each paragraph to distinguish between paragraphs. As for centering the title… is it crucial to your essay to have a title? If not, I would just take it out.

Again, I applied to UT so I’m not entirely sure if the UC applications work the same way. It seemed like a good idea…

No. It is not crucial that my essay has a title. However, I do not want to run the risk of being the odd one out in this situation. If I have to, I am considering just pressing the space bar 10 times to make my own tabs.

I guess I could utilize the “additional comments” section after the essays to convey this problem, but I planned on using that to write something else.

Some of the felds are text only. You can preview the output (at least for common app). Sometimes the space bar will work, other times it won’t. (the spaces you enter will disappear in the final output) To get a tabbed appearance for the first line, you can add
a . then 4 spaces then the first word (see below)
. Please let me in.
The people who developed these apps didnt think too hard about them, obviously So you certainly won’t be the first person that has no spaces or tabbing in your entry. I am sure they are used to reading the responses that way.
