If your parents are only willing to pay around $15K/year for college, remove the California UC’s from your list. As an OOS student, expect to receive little to no financial aid/merit aid and pay $55K/year.

Applying to UC’s is honestly more of a “can I even get in” kind of deal, and 15k is just an estimate. I have college money saved up and have family living in Cali.

You can’t get in-state tuition in CA just because you have family there. You may be able to save on housing if you can live with them (not sure if any UCs require frosh to live on campus), but you would pay OOS tuition all 4 years. Assuming you mean UPenn (the Ivy), that is going to be a reach for you given your SAT. If you mean Penn State, their financial aid is poor even for in-state students, and you would get none.

You should run the net price calculator on the website of each college you are interested in,

UPenn is same as UC’s for me. I just wanna see if I get accepted, not counting on going lol. Definitely looking more for what other Uni’s I should be applying for besides the ones I listed.

$15k per year is what your parents will pay?

How much do you have in college money?

You would have to pay OOS costs for the UCs…don’t matter that you have relatives living there.

Are you suggesting that you would live with relatives and COMMUTE to a UC? Which UCs do you have relatives living very close by?

Take off:

Penn State Univ
Ohio State Univ or Oregon State Univ
Oregon
The UCs

What is your M+CR SAT?

M+CR is 1340. Do believe it will go up the next time I take the SAT.

Edit, I am mostly looking for recommendations in regards to what schools I should apply to.

Why waste application fees on schools you can’t afford to attend? Sounds like you are going to need every penny for college. Is this just for bragging rights?

More of a pride thing, when you spend 4 years studying it would be nice to know you got accepted, plus application waivers, but a few hundred (low hundreds lol) isn’t something I would be afraid to spend. Regarding money I just personally do not want to burden myself/parents with loans but, realistically money is not that big of a problem to where every penny counts.

Your budget is what your parents can contribute ($15k), + the federal student loan (~$5500/year), + summer work earnings (~$3k), + any merit aid you can get. So you need schools that are in the ~$20k ballpark (so you have enough for travel and books). Run the Net Price Calculators on college websites to see if they’re affordable. And look for the thread for low cost (under $25k for everything) schools.
