So I got accepted to Purdue’s Polytechnic Institute for Aeronautical Engineering Technology, and also to UIUC’s Aerospace Engineering program. I was wondering which of those would be better for me to attend, keeping in my the difference between Engg. Tech and Engg. Also considering the internship opportunities, job prospects and research opportunities as well. I am personally leaning toward UIUC, at least until I get my UMich decision (Expecting a rejection).
If it matters to you, you might have more income earning potential as an Engineer.
I’d also guess the coursework for engineering would be more challenging.
It doesn’t make much sense for an international student to go to what is basically a technician’s program at Purdue Polytechnic. If you want to be an engineer, there is no comparison. UIUC without a doubt. Good luck!
I was wondering if any one of you knows about potential internship and research opportunities at UIUC? I looked on their website, but you can only find out so much online. Any comments will be appreciated!
UIUC without a doubt - Engineering Tech is NOT engineering and it’d make no sense for you to attend college in the US for this.
Can you afford UIUC? it’s usually extremely expensive.
I’m not sure about being able to afford UIUC, it is rather expensive and I don’t know if my family has enough funds or can arrange any. I was also looking for any aid for international students and potential scholarships, although I dont think I qualify for either.
I got BU decision, and I was admitted. I haven’t received any decision from UMich as of yet. On a side note, BU hasn’t offered me a scholarship or aid or anything
UIUC is about 57k per annum, and I don’t think they can afford it. I think my dad is making plans to sell some property to arrange for funds. I suppose if I tell them I really want to attend some place, they would make it happen.
