Need help selecting schools

So I've decided to apply to UWashington (state school) and Northwestern.
3.94 gpa unweighted, numerous ap/honors classes, pretty good ecs.

I'm looking for some smaller schools to apply to that are also academically challenging and pretty lenient with financial aid. Suburbs of large city are what I prefer, but am open concerning the location.
I'd also like to play soccer (wouldn't make div I, but div III). Not a must, but something I'd like to keep my possibilities open for.

I'm sure there are probably hundreds of colleges fulfilling these vague and basic descriptions.....but any recommendations? Thanks

Look in the NESCAC league of colleges for great academics and Div III athletics.

Any majors in mind?

biophysics/biochemistry, maybe mathematics.

Look into Big 10.... Wisconsin is especially strong in biotech area.

Might want to look at Holy Cross-near Boston and Davidson -near Charlotte.

Definitely look at Davidson! I'd love if some more Washingtonians came here, and it definitely fits your desires and stats.

less expensive schools : UArizona, UF, UNC, UOregon, Rutgers, UT, etc. Many less expensive schools are public and HUGE.. I know you said you are looking for smaller schools but these schools seem pretty similar to UWashington.
Some excellent small colleges : Brandeis, Clark, Colorado(great science labs), Hamilton, Union. I don't know much of small colleges; I am naming a few from FISKE guide, as I was reading it right now.

I'll definitely give Davidson a thorough look through.
Christyms, thanks, but if I decide to go to a large public University, it'll be the local UW.

Wake Forest, Miami (FLA), Villanova, Davidson, Clark U., American U.,

Can't go wrong with Patriot League Schools: The Patriot League - Official Athletic Site
The member institutions are among the oldest and most prestigious in the nation and play 17 sports in the league.

Lots of kids from Washington at Hillsdale College in MI, plus excellent Div2 athletics. Relatively cheap and excellent financial aid.
