Need Help: STEM Summer Program choices

Hey there
With the in person camps cancelled this summer and going into 9th grade I wanted to get good at research and do some independent research since no professors are willing to take kids so young. I am pretty good at python and trying to figure out how to get started using online public data sets and starting some research but am lost. So was hoping to look at some summer programs to help guide me and need help since am confused what is a good choice from the below:

  • https://www.inspiritai.com/liveonline $900 but looks like teaches some research tactics and in the end you finish a project as well
  • https://www.summersteminstitute.org/ $3k minimum but not sure if its legitimate and worth it
  • Maybe take some courses on udemy or coursera on python+data science and maybe a certificate as well and then go figure out independent research
  • Try taking some university pre college program online? cannot seem to find anything related to research
Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Heyo! I’m going into 9th grade too. You can try for the iResearch Institute. I applied and got in. http://iResearchinstitute.com

Also, you can check out this list of summer camps/ contests that are still open. (Pharmacy program @ Uni of Buffalo, GeoX program @ Texas A&M Uni, etc.)

@shalt5 - Check out WPI’s Launch program https://www.wpi.edu/academics/pre-collegiate/summer-programs/launch Cost is only $299. They have an online info. session slated for next Friday May 29. Good luck with your summer exploration.

Did you attend iResearch last year? If so, how was your experience. Thanks

It was pretty good. I think it was a lot of work though, as it’s only like 4 weeks. The only bad thing about it was the data courses (it made absolutely no sense – kinda a waste of time) but I think they’re doing something different this year.
