Need help - TAP isn't covering me this semester

Hey guys! I am currently a junior.

I am not getting TAP this semester because 2 out of my 5 classes fall under “electives not allowed” classes. I noticed it very recently when I realized that I am not getting TAP. The 2 classes are sociology classes. I thought I could just take them to get my 120 credits (including my major courses). But these two sociology classes are ruining my TAP. However, it’s impossible to get to 120 credits with my major alone, so I assumed that I could take whatever courses to meet the credit requirement.

So, my questions is: can I put sociology as my double major and will TAP understand that I am taking these classes for graduation? Or am I doomed?

@sybbie719 ?

This is a conversation that you will need to have with your advisor and financial aid. You also need to know if you can appeal. They goal of your getting NYS aid, Excelsior or a stem scholarship is to take what you need for your degree, get finished and get out.

There is very little room to deviate cause unless you are in an opportunity program or a student with a disability you only get 4 years of state aid. If you took on a double major, would you be finished in 4 years (unless you have AP/college now or dual enrollment credits, you probably wont).
