Need Help thinking of colleges to apply to

I am planning on majoring in Chemical or Mechanical engineering the schools I am currently looking at in order of preference are

MIT
UT Austin
Rice
Texas A&M

I have a good GPA but a low class ranking because I go to a private school. My class ranking is 7/60 and my school calculates the GPA's weird but throughout my freshman-junior years I have gotten all A's except 3 B's in history and English classes I take a lot of honors and AP classes to so out of a 4 point scale, I estimate my GPA to be around 3.65

I have taken one SAT, 1 ACT, and subject tests

SAT
Composite:2110
M:790
CR:650
W:670

ACT
Composite:34
EN:33
M:34
R:33
SC:35

SAT Subject tests
MATH level 2: 800
Physics: 790

My EC's are decent. Varsity tennis, NHS, NHRP, community service, internship at medical clinic, choir, student govt, communitie service, etc...

I am thinking that I need to apply to more safe schools and other schools around the same level as UT Austin
does anyone have any suggestions of schools I should consider applying to?
Please post if you have any ideas

Purdue and Iowa State are strong in engineering programs and not so expensive for out-of-state students compared to the private ones. They also offer some scholarships.

thanks I will look at them

Rose Hulman, RPI, UMich, GaTech, Stanford

(My kid is seriously thinking about U-M and Purdue)

University of Minnesota Twin Cities and University of Wisconsin Madison both have very good ChemE programs.

Remember that for engineering, all you need is ABET accreditation. So if a certain program is too expensive for you (after scholarships/grants/etc, not sticket price), forget about it.
