@CaliDad2020 Thanks for the advice. With all the schools being mentioned in this thread, it will be much easier to make a list of what schools to apply to.
@matriox You’re welcome. Engineering is a slightly unusual and specific world, so it takes a little bit more research, but all the info is out there - and there are folks on this thread who have gone through it as well if you have any more questions.
Good luck. There are tons of great programs out there and if you spend some time researching you’ll find a few that are a good fit for you.
A little update. I got my AP Scores, and I was very disapponted and quite shocked.
Here are my scores:
AP Physics 1: 2
AP US History: 2
AP Statistics: 5
I’m getting my APUSH score rescored since I had a 97% in the class where over 75% of students didn’t get an A.
Anyways, I’ve heard some people say i can choose to not report the scores but that would cause suspicion among the AOs., especially in selective colleges. Other people say to report the scores and write an explanation why the score was bad, but that might lower my chance for admission if they see the score . AP Physics especially worries me because I’m majoring in mechanical engineering and the AOs may think there’s a grade inflation. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Unfortunately, it may be a reflection on how the course is taught in your high school. If the other students in the class at your high school are not that strong, the teacher may be teaching down to their level, so that even an A student like you will fall short of the standards assumed by the AP exam.
Oh that makes sense. Since I want to major in mechanical engineering, would the 2 from my AP physics exam negatively impact my admission. I’ve heard some say AP doesn’t affect yours chances for admissions , while others say they do. Maybe I’m just freaking out
AP aren’t used in admissions.
Thanks for the clarification. Why do some people say they are used in admission? especially selective schools.
