Need Help Trimming/Choosing Safeties/etc [Long Read]

“It is a comparison of your GPA versus your school’s historic top 9% GPA that is used to determine whether you are eligible in local context.”

Sorry for the several questions again, but where can I find out that information for my school?

Your school may be able to tell you that.

You should set high goals for yourself in terms of your GPA for senior year, but you still must remember that most colleges are going to be making their descisions based on gpa through junior year. Schools will ask to see what classes you are taking as a senior and that may have some bearing on admittance. Many–but not all–schools will look at mid-year grades, but often those are used for students who they are on the fence about. Initial determination regarding admittance is often done prior to these grades being received by schools. And their are some college that don’t even ask for mid-year grades at all, unless they are specifically reequested.

So you will need to make your list realistic based on the grades you have at the end of junior year, and the actual test scores you can report. Otherwise, your expections may be skewed.

Good luck!
