I am choosing between UMich Ann Arbor and Wake Forest. I want to study dance and chemistry in college. At Michigan I can major in both and at Wake Forest I can major in chemistry and minor in dance. I got a partical scholarship to Wake Forest but no money from Michigan. I'm leaning toward Michigan right now but I want to have clear understanding of what the academics are like at each school (especially the science departments), and what the student environment is at each school!

Whats the cost dfference?

In terms of academics(specially natural sciences) UMich is the best one out of the two.

I had to make the same decision, & even though I liked Umich better, I chose wake just because I didn’t want to be in an insane amount of debt upon graduation (got a partial scholarship as well)

Run the numbers through this calculator, and then talk the results over with your parents. Before you choose Michigan, be sure that you understand what this difference for four years is going to be: [FinAid | Calculators | Advanced Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid)

It is possible to do a dual degree program in Dance and another major at UMich, but I doubt that it’s possible in four years. The UMich Dance degree is a BFA and I’d bet it requires nearly all the available course hours outside of the core requirements. I believe that most of the dual degree options at conservatory-level performing arts programs are five years in duration.

I response to the financial aid question, I’ll play $10,000 more a year at Michigan. Do you think that difference is large enough that going to Wake is clearly the better buy?

And in terms of the dual degree program, I will be entering college with 6 or 7 AP credits. Will that get out of primary level courses so that I can focus on getting the credits necessary to complete my majors? I don’t want to be in undergrad for 5 years!

Michigan is not worth 40K more than Wake - no way. If it was NC State or Eastern Michigan than I would go to UMICH, but WAKE is a great school.
