Need help when it comes to UF transfer prerequisites.

Hello everyone, hope you’re all having a great day!

So, I have been researching for quite a while where I want to study psychology, and the University of Florida seems to be my choice. I already live in Florida(Miami) and will soon enroll in Miami Dade College in order to transfer(my GPA/ECs is bad, so I need to redeem myself)
Since I just moved to the US, I am not used to the system and some things sound extremely confusing.

  • On the transfer page( https://admissions.ufl.edu/apply/transfer/ ), they say under Course Placement->Guidelines that "Students beginning in the fall or spring term must have taken the exams (AICE, AP, IB, CLEP) and have their scores reported to the university before enrolling or, at the latest, before the end of the first term of enrollment at UF.". Does it mean that I need to take all these exams while going to college, or that I need to send their results if I happen to take the exams?
  • What classes do I need to take at the CC exactly? At the LAS->Psychology center( https://www.advising.ufl.edu/admissions/transfer-admissions/ ) there is information about transferring requirements: "section Complete MAC 1147 (or MAC 1140 and 1114), BSC 2005, 2010 or equivalent (usually a cell biology) as determined by the Psychology Department, STA 2023, and PSY 2012". Are these classes what should be added to other necessary classes, or these are everything needed?
  • Under Credit Evaluation they link a page to make sure your credits transfer (https://catalog.ufl.edu/UGRD/courses/#aboutcoursestext-otp1), but it seems to be specific to the major. My major will be in psychology, but I imagine that in my first two years I would have to take more general subjects. How do I know what classes I should take(besides MAC 1147 (or MAC 1140 and 1114), BSC 200, STA 2023, and PSY 2012) at the CC to transfer?

I haven’t studied math/chemistry for a long time(4 years), should I practice before enrolling to make sure I get into a good class after the Course Placement? Do AP classes work in colleges just like in HS?

Sorry if these questions are silly, but everything sounds confusing to me, but I feel like not knowing precisely what to may lead to problems later on. Please add anything that may be worth noting that I did not address.

Thank you in advance

At the community college you need to take everything they require for an AA degree including the courses listed under specifically for Psychology. AP/IB are tests you take in high school. Students take CLEP tests when they have a particular knowledge of a subject and don’t want to spend the money on tuition. You should be checking in with the community college academic advising office to make sure you are placed into the correct level of courses.

One of the best ways to get into UF is through community college and transfer. Santa Fe College used to be a community college, but now they give a four year degree. However, many kids go to Santa Fe and then transfer with an AA degree into UF.
