<p>So in my essay I talk about my huge family. I wrote "I like to consider my family tree as being more of a forest." but I kinda want to put a simile like "The branches of my family tree jut out like....." but I can't think of anything sharp or with a lot of edges like my family tree would look like.. My teacher said maybe to us something like "the branches just out like the rugged teeth of a six year old" but ehh I don't know... any ideas?</p>
<p>A family tree is already a metaphor. Now you want to add teeth to the tree? Blecch.</p>
<p>I just said the teeth idea was “ehh” therefore I don’t want to put it in my essay haha… anyways I was trying to do something creative.</p>
<p>That’s my point. Adding extra creativity to a metaphor will be overkill. Stick with tree imagery or put your creativity in another sentence.</p>
