Hello I am about to start my senior year of high school in illinois. I have been looking at colleges for a while now but I’m not very educated about the whole process. I’m not a bad student but I’m not ranked among the top in the class. I currently have a 3.6 unweighted gpa and I scored a 25 on the act. I have taken multiple college cources and have done well in them. I am currently on the varsity golf and tennis teams and participate in a couple clubs during the school year. My lifelong goal is to become a mechanical engineer but I don’t think I will get accepted anywhere with my grades/scores. My number one college choise is ohio state by far but here is a list of other choices… UIUC, purdue, Indiana bloomington, eastern illillinois, southern illinois. I know it’s a Longshot but could I get into any of these schools? Any other school suggestions? (I’m willing to travel anywhere). Should I give up on mechanical engineering or is it still worth a try? Thank you in advance, I really appreciate it.
mechanical engineering is very hard for most people. your brain (designed in the genetic lottery) and its ability to absorb and understand and in the future expand on that type of stuff is not something everyone can do by just “working” hard it. maybe take an intro class and see if in really is possible for you. maybe your mind is designed for it and you will excel if not make sure you go to a school where a plan B is easy to follow.
did you look at bradley university?
