Hi,
I have recently been admitted to UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal Poly for Biological Sciences. Which of these colleges is the better choice? Can I get pros and cons for each as well?
All three have excellent programs, though I would say that UC Davis and UCSB are better than Cal Poly. UC Davis has the better program (but not by much), while UCSB is a nicer place to spend four years.
Of course, it also depends on what focus you want in biology.
What are your goals and interests – teaching, research, medicine, animal science, botanical related, marine sciences, ecology, agriculture?
Do you have other interests that you might want to also study (either as a minor or just something that you enjoy) like statistics, engineering, public policy, etc?
Answering questions like these could help you narrow it down. Examples: Marine sciences might favor Santa Barbara and SLO, while agriculture would favor SLO or Davis.
All three schools are strong in the sciences and highly respected. So the pros and cons will depend on your specific likes and interests. In general though, you have no bad choices here.
