Im only 15 but really want to figure this out now. I would like to be on broadway or be a Rockette one day. I am a dancer and I am having trouble finding a good dance college. I am more of a tapper and I love NY, so I was hoping to be able to go to NY for dance at a good college. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

In my opinion, it is too early to figure it out now…just keep moving forward. When you are a junior, see what your grades/standardized tests are, see how the dance progresses…then decide what type of program you want and can afford…there are schools that are conservatories (with a primary focus on performance), schools that offer BFA degrees (with a focus on fine arts) and schools that offer BA degrees (more general academic degree).

I agree that you might want to re-evaluate your interest in a couple of years, but if you’re really set on dance, one girl from my school decided to do a dance major here:

[AMDA - American Musical and Dramatic Academy - College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts](<a href=“AMDA | College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts”>http://www.amda.edu/)

My son graduated AMDA - Dance Major - Best decision ever. He wanted more theater dance and over all experience. We found many schools were all ballet and contemporary. Dont get me wrong, you get that at AMDA too but so much more. Its all about performance dance at AMDA.
