Need help with Film major questions and others!

hello all, im a junior in High school in New Jersey.
I plan to go to university in either New York City (Preferably!), New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and any other state around this area. As soon as im done i want to attend film school (NYFA most likely) for two years!
I love film/movie directing, film production, camera operating, movie/film editing, and all of that jazz. i do it in my spare time and completed TV Video 1 fresh year and TV Video 2 Soph year.

My main question is - What exactly is "Film Studies"?
Also, what is "Cinematography" and are these college majors what i need to go on to movie directing, film editing, and all that?
If those are not the majors i need, then what do i need?

I am also not sure what university to attend... I have been looking at Pace Univ in NYC, La Salle Univ in Philly, Tisch school of the arts in NYC, and Temple in Philly.
Im not sure what is good for me
I am an above average student, and have made honor roll every marking period this year, but my freshman and sophomore year i did not do so well (c's, d's =/), because i didn't take school seriously until about a year ago. so now my GPA is higher than last year, Somwhere between 2.5 and 3.3
I took the SATs and plan to take them again, but i didn't do so great. i got a 1430 all together.
please help me out :]!

You’re not going to get into Tisch or Temple Film with those numbers. Your best bet is probably community college unless you can raise your SAT score 300+ points. 2.5-3.3 is a huge range. If you’re in the 3.0+ range, and can raise your SAT score, you’d have a chance at Temple film. Also, La Salle is terrible for film and otherwise.
