Need help with good universities that I could get into

Hello! I’ve been stressing about university applications and such lately(as I am sure most current HS seniors are) and I haven’t been quite sure which universities I should specifically look to apply to? I would like to go somewhere in the east coast(preferring New York), and here are my basic stats: 3.8 cumulative gpa, I’m enrolled in a dual-credit program(taking at least 4 college classes every semester), and I got a 1650 total on my SAT(however I’m re-taking it again in October and November in order to try to increase my score).

I was looking into Hofstra University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and possibly Fordham University. My intended major is Managerial Information Systems.

If anyone could perhaps tell me if I have a good chance into getting the three universities I listed above, that would be great! Also, I really would love some suggestions as to what other universities I should look into applying to on the east coast! And finally, with my statistics, would it at all be possible for me to earn a decent scholarship?

Thank you!

Also I forgot to mention thay I have a lot of ECs, and can speak another language pretty fluently, along with the fact that I have studied three languages for 3-4 years.

Do you have subject test results in the languages you know? If not, plan on taking them since they’ll show what you know and having multiple 700s in languages is rare.
1650 is quite low though, prep very seriously for you next test.
What’s your parents’ budget? What’s “in state” for you?
Check out Babson, Baruch, Canisius, Clarkson, Manhattan, Muhlenberg, Penn State Erie, Seton Hall, St John’s (Queens), SUNY Binghamton, UDel, WPI, Stevens.

Fordham put just as much weight on the sat as they do on GPA. Your GPA is there but sat is slightly lacking. I wouldnt say “quite low”, you’re not applying to Ivies where you need a 2200+. A majority of applicants for fordham have sat between 1750 and 2000.

@MYOS1634 gives good advice. Using Fordham as a measuring stick, 1740 SAT is at their 25% level. 1900 would be a better target there. Also, not an issue, but just a reality…Fordham is a Jesuit university, and as such there are a lot of Catholics there. Not really a big deal except that if you aren’t Catholic, you COULD feel left out. An excellent school in a cool location.

Take the ACT, I got a 1800 on SAT but 31 ACT

^some students do better on the ACT, others on the SAT. It’s good to take both to see which one one prefers.

I have taken the ACT, and the score was quite low which is why I will rely on the SAT score. I do plan on trying to get my SAT up to 1800-1900, since I will be doing prep classes. Also, the languages I specialize in don’t have a SAT subject test made for them yet. In-state for me is Nevada, I recently moved here last year. I have a diverse background, though, since I studied four years previously in Thailand. I was there during my 9th and 10th grade years of high school as well. Also, as far my parents financials go, neither of them have a job.

Also, my main goal right now is Hofstra University, so if I could get chanced on that, that would be lovely!

Check section C page 8. You are in the ball park.

I see, but since that data set is from 2013-2014, would the statistics be higher now than when they were a few years back?

Also, if I could get chanced for the Rochester Institute of Technology, that would be great!

Hofstra has one of the lowest yields of almost any school out there. They accept nearly 9 times the number of students who ultimately attend. I suspect they would be delighted to have an applicant who is sure to attend-if you can make that clear. For a class of 1714 they accept 16,258. The odds of them taking you is a whole lot higher than the odds any student who is accepting will end up accepting Hofstra’s offer.

also, your SATS are in line with Hofstra’s mean SATs (569. 581). But Hofstra is very expensive. I think that might be one reason the yield is so low. Tuition and fees is 40,500 and room and board are 13,500. Hofstra is know to not be very generous with aid. According to Forbes, Family income less than 30K, cost is about 31,300 while incomes of 100,000 are $39,000. 91% of students receive scholarships or grants but it does not seem as thought it is much.
