The non-filing statement is something that has to be provided only by students whose parents do not need to file a federal income tax return for tax year 2008 and all it does is verify that the person does not have to file such a return. If your parents did file a 2008 tax return by April 15 of this year, then something is wrong in your file.</p>
<p>drusba, I need to feel the non filing statement for myslef, because I did not earn money, therefore I do not need to file tax return. My parent’s tax return is satisfied.</p>
<p>It must be some recent change because in past years I do not remember their ever requiring the high school senior to file the statement if he was not working if his parents filed a tax return and submitted the FAFSA with their income shown.</p>
