Hi everyone, I will be applying for college within the next couple of weeks and I’m in serious need of money. I was looking into grants, scholarships, etc. but there is one problem, my dad is an attorney and my mom is a clinical lab scientist who collectively make well over $300,000 annually. You would think that they would be able to pay for my education, but my poor decisions (mostly not going on a mission because i’m lds :/), have made it so they will not pay for my education at all. So, that is why I present this question today, I need to know ways to pay for my college and not be homeless at the same time. Anything helps, thanks!
Your parent’s income is going to make need based aid very unlikely, and probably impossible. Paying for university yourself is going to be very tough.
I think that you are going to need to make up with your parents, or find a job and put off university for a while.
What are your stats? Is there any chance that your parents would reconsider if you got into BYU or a very highly ranked school?
You are going to be limited to BYU, your state schools or community colleges, or schools that award a lot of merit aid (if you qualify). If you are from Florida or Georgia, get the merit aid from the state (BF, Hope).
You parents can’t contribute anything?
What are your SAT or ACT scores? Your GPA?
Look at your home state public universities.
Look for MERIT aid based on your stats, because with $300,000 annual income, you won’t be seeing need based aid most likely.
