Hi guys, I need some help on managing time for the reading section.
I take around 2-3 minutes to read the passage but I can't remember the detail questions so I have to go back to the passage and answer those. I can only answer around 2-3 questions without going back.
A lot of times I do finish the test on time but sometimes I can't. How can I reduce the time I take on the questions?
Also, I do fine on other sections but on the real test last time, I got nervous on the reading section because I have trouble finishing sometimes. How can I concentrate better and not think about not finishing?

SAME ISSUE! I feel you.

I have found that if you give yourself 9 minutes per passage. At the end of those 9 min. go to the next one. That way you can answer a good bit of each one. Instead of hearing 5 min. with one passage left. I know how you feel. But, if you do practice passages you get quicker… I am not there yet… But I’m working on it… lol

yeah well im taking my act tomorrow. anyway i can read at a decent speed but sometimes i take too long on the questions. I think im gonna go more on my guts on some of the questions instead of going back tothe passage on every one

what I do is write 2-3 keywords after each paragraph IF i feel like i didnt understand it completely or that I’ll easily forget. Sometimes I even do it if I know theres important info in there and I use the 2-3 keywords to jog the memory. That way, when you look back, the notes you take can trigger your memory, or make finding the part of the passage a lot faster. I learned this tip in a prep book I use, not sure which one though.

I got a 32 in reading last time, and I’m retaking the ACT’s tomorrow. Preview questions quickly. Then skim the passage and highlight anything you see that may pertain to questions. Once done skimming, quickly establish the overall theme. Lol, I am of no help.
