My Gpa: 2.7
SAT:1880
I slacked off freshman and part of sophomore year. I understand I can't change whats done, but I need to find safety schools. I have just the parameters that the school has a great computer science program, is in a large city and matches my grades.

I am proficient in computer coding and will probably work in the city I go to college in. Please help me find some good safety schools CC community.

Thank You.

Home state? One safety school would be your local community college

Home state is New Jersey and I forgot to mention that I do not need financial aid. I would however prefer being in a city setting for there are greater opportunities for the line of work I want to involve myself in.

your resumé looks a lot like @sledfish’s. why the double personas?

sledfish is my brother…but I was hoping for a larger list.

safeties must be absolutely affordable, absolutely some place one will get into, absolutely some place one will attend if all else fails, and, of course, have one’s major.

so what have the net price calculators suggested about your family’s contribution to this effort, and how much have mom and dad offered?

jk

OP does not need aid, so just advice based on scores etc.

OP
as I told your brother, you should also use the superfinder on CC to find some schools that fits your stats and other requirements. You may come back and seek for further advice after you have a list.

Since money isn’t an issue, why not pull up your GPA at a community college and then apply to a better college than you can get into now.

Here are some suggestions, however: Kean, Utica, Rhode Island College, Shippensburg, Duquesne.

Stevens is not a safety for that stats. St. Johns, Seton Hall, Iona and Pace in NYC metro might be.

^True… OP is above average for test scores but in the bottom 20% for GPA so with the computer programming that makes Stevens a match, sorry.

I was going to ditto Pace, since the OP doesn’t need financial aid.

Can anyone recommend some safety schools, as pretty much every other school on the list right now is a reach due to the low GPA?

ideally, the schools will be in large cities (NY, Boston, LA, SF, SD) rather than suburbs or rural areas.

???

You and your brother have identical stats and are seeking the same major?
