Can someone please explain to me how to figure out this problem? I have no clue.

There are a couple of ways to solve this problem, just show you one way here
FOIL the left side and simplify, you have equation like
x^2-(8+k)x+8k=x^2-5kx+m
since the equation holds for all x
so all the corresponding coefficients are equal
-(8+k)=-5k
8k=m
you can solve the first equation to get k=2
and sub to the second equation to get m=16

Though most of students will try to specifically choose x’s values to derive the same equations.

Oh okay I understand it now. Thanks!
