Alright so I took Econ 1, 2, and currently taking a course equivalent to MGMT 1a at a CC.

I will have exactly 88 quarter units by the end of the summer, so I am 2 units shy from junior standing in my first quarter which means I can't take Econ 41?

I am thinking of taking

Math 31B
MGMT 1B
Eng 3 or Stats 13

Will this be managable? I heard MGMT 1B is really hard. I don't even know if I can take this class since it registrar says "freshmen are not allowed to take the class," but class standing is done by units right?

How hard is Eng 3? English is my weakest subject and if possible I would like to take it with the easiest prof. And take Wrting II at a CC over next summer. There is only 5 profs teaching the class on the fall (20 students in each class)? Isn't this number too low? I'd think MANY students need/want to take Eng 3 the first quarter.

For 31B, the 3 profs teaching it on fall seems to have never taught 31B before (khan, ouellette, and moschovakis). Ouellette and Moschovakis have very bad ratings on bruinwalk and khan is not rated. Does anyone took these profs before?

Also, is it true that completing a GE cluster gets you out of Writing I AND II?

Nvm on the GE cluster question, I found out that Eng 3 or its equivalent has to be taken to get Writing I credit.

Stats 13 is full unfortunately. So I guess the only possible schedule I can do is

Math 31B
MGMT 1B
Eng 3

Anyone know if I can/can not enroll in MGMT 1B? I do qualify unit-wise and took 1a at CC, but I don’t think they consider you unit standing during the first quarter for freshmen.

wow, have you really already taken all those classes? I haven’t taken any community college classes… and how do you know you have junior standing already?

or almost junior standing

Junior Standing = more than 90 units

I think I’ll have it after the first quarter.

wow. I’m only coming in with 16, I think. After first quarter I’ll still be a freshman. It’s okay though, I’m not trying to rush anything.

I have 52 AP units and 36 community college units (16.5 of which is in progress at the moment)

dayum, i think u have more than me already, an im an incoming sophormore…lol

Well I’ll have 68 from AP classes (plus like 10 others), but they don’t get me much.

ThisCouldBeHeavn, that’s a lot of AP classes isn’t it? You must be some kind of genius, along with confidentiality and everyone else at UCLA. I took 4 AP classes, but AP lit and lang units overlap, as well as calc ab and bc. I never really wanted to take too many of those classes, and the good ones (micro/macroeconomics) weren’t offered at school anyway. Now, looking back, I really wish I’d gone to a school that had them. I could’ve taken care of Econ 1&2 already.

At least you don’t have to take 31B and Eng 3 (if you passed ap eng with a 4 or 5) kimmmmmq. I’d like that very much haha. If only I got a 4 on AP Eng. =[

My senior AP scores sucked. I got a 1 on computer science lol. If I passed that I would get exactly 90 units, which would have been very nice.

I am going to try and enroll in that fiat lux seminar on craiglist to ebay thing too kimmmmmq. Hopefully there would be a space for me when I enroll in Orientation 103. If we both get it, we will be in class together =]

hi quachie! i’m coming in with only 16 credits too! independence sucks :)

haha. independence was fun though, i have to admit. it’s nice not having such high expectations. 31B and eng 3 shouldn’t be hard for you, confidentiality, judging from the amount of credit you’re getting from your AP’s. and anyway, the 90 credits don’t matter for you right now- you’ll have to enroll during orientation no matter what, and by winter quarter you’ll skip right over to junior standing. have fun now and stop worrying, before your crazy college education starts! oh, and that craigslist class together would be awesome. it sounds like something i’d actually want to learn.

I am not worried about the math, but english is my weakest subject. I hope I can get the easiest Eng3 prof avaliable haha

Yeah I was actually thinking of opening up an ebay account to sell some junk I have in my room haha. Do we actually have work/exams in that 1 unit class?

Why were you thinking about Stats 13 instead of Econ 41?

I passed out of the English 3 requirement, but it looks pretty easy. I proofread and edited my first year roommate’s papers, and the prompts were REALLY easy. Like middle school easy. Said roommate was also a horrible writer; I’ve known middle schoolers who were better writers. Roommate still got an A for that class. Heh.

I don’t think we have exams in the fiat lux, there may be a little work, but it’s a seminar. I’ve heard that they’re really super easy- you just have to like the topic. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal (in terms of workload)
