Was wondering if i was only going to receive money from those grants and thats it?
If so does it mean i have to pay the difference, because that might make the difference between me attending college, those loans are way too much money for me to borrow and dont want to have the burden of having to pay them back. Was wondering if all those grants include everything from the fafsa or if there is something missing.

that would mean if i took those loans id owe over 14Grand in Loans
and only around 6grand would be paid for by the grants

is there anything i should know thats missing or that im misreading

view this screenshot so u can see what im reading

There are a couple of other thoughts I had:

You might be eligible for an additional “automatic” grant, the federal Academic Competitiveness Grant, once your high school transcript is received and reviewed. Many schools don’t list the award until that process is complete. It is $750 for the first year, $1400 for your sophmore year, but you do have to meet academic criteria as well as being Pell eligible.

Is there any chance at all you’ll go into teaching? If so, you can apply for the Teach grant which is $4K per year. If you don’t fulfill the requirements later, it turns into an unsubsidized Stafford loan.

Is $21,876 the entire cost of attendance at your school? If so, that probably includes non-billable/discretionary items such as transportation, books and supplies, and miscellaneous personal expenses which often amounts to several thousand dollars. Look for a breakdown of the COA on their website and subtract out these items. What will you need to actually pay up front? Your grants and Stafford loans will provide you with $6,753 per semester and you/your parents will need to come up with the rest, plus some money for books, personal expenses ,etc. But you may have grad gift money, outside awards money, summer job savings, etc. that can cover those extras. And you can likely get a non-work study job on campus to help with the ongoing personal expenses/books.

The school gave you an institutional grant of $3,354, which exceeded the Pell amount. Please make sure you ask them if that will continue if you remain Pell eligible - some schools give more generous grants to freshmen. Did you ask them for more aid? If not, you can always write a letter and do so although it’s a bit late and money may be gone. I would at least push for work-study funds so that your EFC doesn’t get hit next year, thereby diminishing your Pell award.

Why are you getting part of the cal grant? What year are you?

Usually cal grant B you get access + Full tuition at your school.
(i think this may start junior year though- not sure, but if you qualify for cal grant B access portion at some point you get the full cal grant if you are eligible)

Really it is not that bad at all. No matter what if this is for a UC or CSU you will have loans. They never cover full need in grants unless you get regents scholarship or some other scholarship.

You also do not have to take the full loan amount. Tuition is only going to be about 8k, you could technically not take the loans if you dont want to.
