I got a d in pre-calc this semester(senior year first semester) because I had no idea how ridiculous the course load of ap lit and econ would be. so i am debating whether or not to report the D to the schools right now or like wait until march when they have notified me. I am planning to work really hard this semester(senior year second semester) to at least balance my both semester gpa to 3.0-3.3 area. so the question is do i report the D now or wait until march when they actually accept me and i can say i am doing much better in class

UC admission offers typically contain a condition that you not get any D or F grades in your previously reported senior year courses.

so i should report it now?

Ordinarily the advice is to let them know right away, and that’s probably the right thing to do. Keep in mind the UCs have this concept called “validation” in which passing a higher level math class or subsequent semester “validates” the first in which you got less than a C in the sense that you get subject credit for the earlier class(es) towards the admission requirements.

I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on how the rules apply. Go see your counselor and see how it affects you, or read thru the UC material on line and decide if it applies to yuo.
