Need help with UC GPA

I am somewhat confused with UC GPA and how exactly to calculate it. I would appreciate if someone could help me out. Here are my classes for 10th and 11th grade:

10th:
PE A/A
Pre-IB English 10 (H) A/A
Algebra II/Trig (H) A/A
Pre-IB Chemistry (H) A/A
Pre-IB World History (H) A/A
Pre-IB Spanish 2 (H) A/A

11th:
IB English 11 (H) A/A
IB Spanish 3 (H) B/A
AP Statistics (H) A/A
IB Math HL 1 (H) A/A
AP US History (H) A/A
AP Chemistry (H) A/A
*Also, I took a class at my local community college called History of Rock n Roll to fullfill the visual/performing arts requirement for UCs. It was during the second semester of the college (Feb-June), and I received an A.

Mostly I'm just confused what to count and how to count it. I get all of the extra honors points available (8) because more than four of those classes listed are given the extra honors credit. Does PE count? Do I just ignore it in calculating my GPA? Also, what do I do with the college class, since it only ran for one semester (which, as I understand it, counts as two high school semesters)? If someone wouldn't mind explaining how to calculate my UC GPA, or even calculate it for me, I would appreciate it.

i dunno, had the same proble, seems like you have very similar stats to mine, so i think it's 4.32 UC GPA, but don't take my word for it, wait for someone more reliable to reply just so I can confirm my GPA.

Academic courses only -- no PE or underwater basketweaving. Alg II does not count, and likely Span II does not count either. Just bcos your HS calls in an Honors course, does not necessarily mean it is a UC-approved honors course. The reason that Alg II doesn't count is that it is required for admission (third year of math). Your juco class will count for the VAPA, plus bonus point. But, you are capped at 8 semesters worth of bonus points.

From UCOP:

The University assigns extra grade points for up to four yearlong courses of University-certified honors-level, Advanced Placement, and/or designated International Baccalaureate courses taken in grades 10, 11 and 12: A=5 points, B=4 points, C=3 points. College-level courses in the "a-g"college preparatory subjects that are transferable to the University are also assigned honors grade points. A maximum of four semesters of honors courses taken in grade 10 are assigned honors grade points. Grades of D are not assigned extra honors points. (Extra points will be awarded to 10th graders only when they take courses that have been certified by the University as honors-level courses.) At the end of the 12th grade, campuses verify an applicant's UC eligibility based on the final high school record.

Yeah I realize not all of these courses are considered eligible to receive bonus points, but I know more than four are. AP Stats, IB Math, AP US History, and AP Chem are four, and there are others that count too. But I listed all of them as honors anyways because the school gives extra points for them.

I guess my main source of confusion, now that I know not to count PE, is how to deal with the community college course. Not counting it, I come up with 4.32. But when I do include it and give it credit for two semesters, I have a 4.29...that's kind of lame that it goes down. So which is it, or is it neither one?

bump...........

Why are you worried about it? Just do the UC app at Pathways. The weighted GPA is calculated automatically.
You don't get to calculate anything. The way it works,
most students get a UCWGPA of up to 4.4, adding additional points for upto 8 semester classes for
selected Honors, AP, or UC approved CC classes
in your sophomore and junior years and summers.
The theoretical maximum is 4.5. But I think your
chance of admission is higher with 4.4 than with 4.5,
because of how UC's score the strength of your a-g curriculum in their comprehensive review. LOL.

OK, here's your calculation.
Your PE is not a-g, so it doesn't go on the app.
Your college class counts as two semesters.
Total 10+12+2 = 24 a-g semester classes
You drop a point for your B, add 8 points for your A's
in AP's. So you net 7/24 over 4.0. That's 4.29.
