Need help

Hello everyone,

I’m a sophomore in a small private school with a 3.7 GPA. I’ve had two internships and have taken multiple 300 level courses. I am a Finance major and would like to transfer to a new school with a better alumni network and more prestige. I haven’t been able to come up with a list of schools that are realistic and if anyone could offer a school(s) that are top tier that I have a chance at admittance. I am also willing to transfer to a school for economics if I wouldn’t be able to get into their business school, NYU stern vs economics degree.

Small private school: 3.7 GPA
Honors college and in sophomore honors society
Single parent home and first to attend college (Haitian American)
Internship at top 100 non-profits(committed 20 hours during the week) and internship at an investment firm
Part of the investment club and economic club
Treasurer of my class freshmen year

High school wasn’t a great time so my grades are obviously lower along with a lower SAT score.

I’ve come up with Gtown (finance), Boston C (finance), and Bentley (finance).

Thank you in advance for just reading this!

Will you need financial aid?

I definitely will need financial aid!

You certainly can get in to some of the listed school. But cannot tell if you can receive enough aid. You should apply and see the package and make a decision from there.

artloverplus, most schools (at least those that guarantee to meet need) are all-or-nothing on aid for transfers (or any student). Either you get in, and funded, or you don’t get in

Two other schools with business schools that come to mind are Tulane, Emory, UPenn, Boston College, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon, and WUSTL. There are also very good state schools, but they will not give you aid.

Just like freshman admissions, you want a mix of safety, match, and reach schools.

If you are interested in something broader than finance – like economics – you open up your options significantly
