Ok I’ll start off by saying my situation is pretty strange and has to do with my GPA and I will be a senior next year. My first 2 years of high school happened to be on the 7 point grading scale while this year and next will be on the 10 point scale. My school is also not converting the GPA’s of the first 2 years to the 10 point scale. With that being said I also believe that the 10 point scale is the most common but I could be wrong so please correct me if I am. I recently just got done doing the math on what my GPA would be after this year and what it would have been if it was converted.
Based off the way my school is doing it my UW would be at 2.44 and my W would be at a 3.17.
However if it was converted it would be a UW of 2.98 and a W of 3.52.
So I am wondering since I plan on applying to colleges this summer would schools take into account on what my grades could have been if it was converted to the current scale. Thanks in advance for any help.
My daughter went to one school 9-10 grades with 0-100 grading. Then she went to another and did an IB Diploma for 11-12 grades which is 0-7. Never knew what her 4.0 scale GPA was…colleges figure it out. The only time there was an issue was for our State Flagship which awards scholarships based on GPAs , but a quick email sorted that out. So send your transcript and the college will figure it out.
For you, in picking colleges, I would assume a GPA inbetween the two and apply to colleges that have that GPA inthe middle 50%. Use the Supermatch tool over on the left.
In the USA, the most common scale is 0-4 with 4 being the best (an A)…but the weighted GPA can go above 4 is AP and honors courses are weighted.
@booper by 7 point scale and 10 point scale I might not have worded it the best but what I meant by this was an A on he 7 point scale would be 93-100 B-85-92 C-77-84 D-70-76 F-69-0 While 10 point scale an A would be 90-100 B-80-89 C-70-79 D-60-69 and F-59-0 My school does do GPA on a 4.0 scale with weighted making it go to a possible 6.0 maximum thanks again for the help
