Need help.

I currently have a 2.02 gpa and it will most likely go up to about a 2.20 hopefully. I am trying to apply to cal states for computer information systems. I want to know if I have any chance at all? I am done with all the required classes except for managerial accounting and business calc.

Look at the common data set for each college of interest. Google it. Look at the section for freshman admissions. Compare your GPA to that of the middle fifty percent of admitted students. If your GPA is below the fiftieth percentile, you will have a more difficult time getting in. Consider community college if yiu are in CA, it is a very good path to getting into four year Ed and it’s easy to transfer credits.

Are you already in CC? If so, just email the admissions departments and ask. They Will know better than us.

Yeah I am currently attending cc. Addmissions department at my school or other schools?

The admissions dept of the schools you want to go to. They are the only ones who will know.

Non-impacted Cal States such as Channel Islands, Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills, Stanislaus and East Bay should accept a Transfer applicant with a minimum 2.0 if they offer the CIS major. The rest of the CSU’s will be tough admits at a 2.0. What is your local CSU? You would priority at the local CSU unless the major is impacted.
You would put yourself in a better position if you have all course requirements completed by end of Fall 2017.

pick a school or two from the non-impacted list, contact their admissions office and be sure you meet their required and recommended course list. Assuming you have a D/F or two, see if you can re-take the courses and replace the grade on your transcript.

I would add, you should be getting better than a C avg in a major that is right for you. If you bombed a class or two, that’s fine but, otherwise, you aren’t likely to enjoy the work when you finish school. Maybe you are more of a Marketing person?

The thing is that I ended up taking trig and I received an F. I didnt bother retaking it because of academic renewal but now I cant do an academic renewal so I am stuck with that F unless i retake trig. That F is pulling my gpa down. I am still going to try applying to see what happens. Thanks for the help.

@Asadfhaim123: Why not just retake Trig this summer? Is it a Pre-req course required for transfer?

I was trying to major in computer science at one point.I wasted a year doing that. I am taking business calc this summer. I am going to try to apply regardless. I will most likely retake trig later on in the fall hopefully.
