Not sure how to answer that question without sounding like a complete snob, but based on what felt right for us an unspiring suburb of New Haven did not seem like the most appealing location for our daughter to go to school. I think it really does come back to the theme which comes up again and again on this board - each kid has to find the place that feels right for them. To complete the picture on us, our two favorites out of the six schools we visited were Hotchkiss and Pomfret which you would probably put on the more remote end of the spectrum as far as school location goes.

I looked at Choate with my daughter two years ago. I thought the academics were superior but I did feel the campus seemed a bit run down. I didn't like the major street running through the middle of the campus either. And, Walingford was a touch too depressing! But biffbnar is right - if you feel comfortable there, then it is a match for you!

I didn't mind the street, and I felt that the campus was the most pristine I saw. It was so well taken care of, and the river and bridge were beautiful.

Then again, I love it in every way. ;)
