need help

my cousin just got a 22 on her ACT. expecting a score of 30 or more, she is hysterical and I cant calm her down. she recently moved from India to US and lives at my home. she has always been one of the smartest ppl in her class and went to English-first schools in India. I am in complete shock at her score. I got a 34 last year and my entire family was expecting her to do well also. I am trying to hold her together but I really dont know what to do. i told her its her first time and other cliched comments but I am completely lost. I have never been in a situation of such utter disapointment. **What do I do? Can she get it together and earn the score she thought (around 30) the next time around? Does anybody know of any instances of this? **I really need help b/c its killing me to see her like this. Shes a good person and doesnt deserve this.

My older brother got a mediocre PSAT score sophomore year, then when he took the SAT the first time in May his junior year he got a 1170 or something (this was before writing was added). Over the summer he did the practice tests over and over again, and in Fall of senior year he got 1580 (again, before writing was added). He thought the first low score was going to hurt him but the colleges only seemed to look at the high score. He got accepted into good colleges and awarded scholarships. He said it was just that he needed to figure out the test and then he did well. So your cousin has the whole summer to do practice ACTs and practice SATs. She could have gotten one off on the answer sheet and mis-bubbled, who knows. Luckily this isn't the results from the test she took November of Senior year.
