ok guys, heres my problem. My gpa/rank arent that high. Maybe my rank is a little bit below top 10%. My grades arent THAT high either. But i am going to be taking IB which is considered the hardest courseload. So will the hardest courseload make up for the gpa/rank? Is courseload worth more than gpa/rank? Im planning on applying to Wharton btw.

well Wharton is pretty comptetive. I would say that courselad is important because its better than taking easy courses so yea i would say coursload. IB are hard too

That won’t cut it for any Ivy league and definitely not Wharton.

Grades and especially rank are everything. Without them, unless you have a strong hook, you’ll probably be rejected.

There are plenty of other top schools and business programs out there, though, that you should definitely look into.

umm but, i live in Philadelphia and i go to one of the top schools in the city considered a “sister school” to Upenn. Upenn is a bit number friendly to our kids. I mean, they accept kids with 1900 SAT easily from our school so yeha they go a bit easy on us. But, will rank affect me greatly? I ll be taking IB and thats considered the hardest in my school.

Most of the people that go to UPenn (especially Wharton) have both the hardest courseload and high grades.

Two questions:
- Do they use weighted or unweighted GPA to calculate your rank?
- What do you mean, grades aren’t that high? That can mean different things, especially at CC. Do you mind saying your GPA? Or give some examples of your typical grades?

Well you didn’t mention that.

You may still be in the running, but rank is a huge factor in determining acceptance.

lol super late reply but sorry lol hmm my school uses weighted gpa to calculate rank… we are never told our unweighted… mots of my grades are like 90s … the rank 1 kid has a 4.08 and i have a 3.91… i ll prolly pull that to 4.01ish by end of junior year but like, thats still the bottom end of top 10%.
