Okay so I took two classes this summer. History, which I got an A, and Pre-calculus/Trigonometry online. Didn't do so great in that class. Reason was because I had a family emergency where i had to leave the country for a week so I ended up missing 1/3 of the homework and failed the first midterm. So my grade is probably going to be a D or maybe a C. What I want ask is how bad is this going to hurt my chances of transferring. I am applying this fall and my number one choice is LA which I know is a stretch since my gpa is like a 3.1. However I would be happy with Davis or Irvine. Aldo can I retake it if I get a D, because I've heard you can only retake classes that you have an F in. If I am allowed to retake it I wont be done with calculus until next summer so I was wondering how that would affect me also. Would I still qualify for a TAG which I really wannted to? Any help would be really appreciated.

What is your major? It depends on your school whether or not you can retake a class you got a D in.

On the application there will be room for you to explain the family emergency that resulted in the low grade. I don't know if that will save you but it might make you feel better to know that possibility is there.

My major is basically business and all the schools require calculus which I think I need to have a C in Pre calc/trig to get into.

One of the people in the honor society I belong in got into UCI's Business program even though he failed his Calculus class twice. UCI told him to just take it again and if he passes, they'd accept him.

Thank you guys I really appreciate the help. I know there is someone from UC Davis admissions on this site and I was wondering if you could give me some insight or what you think my chances are.
