Need information

Hi
I want to become a Math teacher, but i have a problem, i don't know what my major should be. can someone help me with this? and also, it says concentration on the form that i'm suppose to fill out, what does that mean?
it looks something like this:

Major: _________________ Concentration: ________________

Also, is there anything else i need to know?

Ask your academic advisor, he/she should be able to help you.

Concentration is usually for a broad major, for example: majoring in communications and concentrate in print journalism vs. broadcast journalism.

For a math teacher, I’m not sure. Are you referring to teaching high school, junior high, etc. or becoming a professor?
If it’s the former, you probably need to major in education and maybe supplement that with a math degree.

I’m not 100% on the above, speak with an adviser or, you could even go to some hiring sites, like Monster.com, and see what the requirements are for a school looking for a math teacher to point you in the right direction.

You really ought to consult an advisor though.

You’ve been in college long enough to get put on academic probation and then fail out, right? I don’t know whether you actually did fail out and are now attempting to register at a community college or whether you are still at your original school.

But by now you ought to know how to find this sort of information in your student handbook, which is almost certainly available online. (You will also want to look at your major department’s page to find out what concentrations are available to you.) Random strangers on the internet who don’t know what school you’re attending definitely don’t know how to fill out that school’s forms.

If you can’t figure out how to fill out the form using the handbook, then you need to go see an advisor to get help with it. Even if you do figure the form out using the handbook, though, you probably ought to go talk to an advisor ASAP. You’ve clearly been making some bad choices and you need to start getting back on track.

How do you know that the OP failed out or was on academic probation?

You’re attacking the entire function of this forum!

Look at his previous posts.

I have to read all 3 of them? Jeez!

Well, luckily he has a plan to turn things around. Don’t get discouraged by one setback; you’ll get where you’re going as long as you keep working as hard as you do now!

This really depends on your school…a concetration can mean one thing at one school and a totally different thing at another school. Look at your school’s course catalogue or on the website, I’m sure the information you’re looking for is there somewhere, or ask your advisor.
