Need input from LSP students

I would like to hear some comments regarding the LSP program from some current or former students.
Is this a separate school?
What are the hurdles when declaring a major, specifically do some majors require a course load that is unmanageable or unachievable in the remaining two years?
Is the two year degree of any real value?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Parent of a former LSPer here.

LSP is a program in the College of Arts and Science, not a separate school.

My daughter will be a first semester senior in January. LSP is just a distant memory. She is completing her major this semester and is planning to study abroad. I know that she was able to use at least one AP course to satisfy a prerequisite for her major. If you are concerned about fitting it all in, you should plot out all your required LSP, Economics major and prereq, and minor courses. I would think if there is a plan for pre-health (pre-med) students, then your scenario really shouldn’t be a problem.

She hasn’t had any qualms about recommending LSP. Although she was a top student in high school, her SAT scores were a little low for NYU. LSP was a means to an end. Now no one knows that she was in LSP and no one cares. She did not receive the AS degree as she was able to use a semester’s worth of AP credit to leave LSP a semester early (not sure if you are allowed to do this anymore).

There’s lots of LSP information within the NYU forum or search my history for LSP posts. I only know of a couple of former LSPers who have posted on CC.

Best of luck with your decision.

My son is currently a freshman in the Lsp program. He is doing fantastic and loves it at NYU. His Ap credits from high school gave him 12 credits and he may be able to graduate from NYU a semester early. Being placed in LSP gives you small classes, more input with your professors and nobody cares your lsped. He lives with tisch and steinhart roomates, who turned out to be his best freinds. Go to the admitted students day for lsp students. It is informative , and it will tell you all the answers to any concerns.

Thank you very much for your response. I will attend the information seminar.
