Need insight on what to expect with UC application workshop

Apparently there is going to be a UC personal statement workshop early next week, and I was wondering what I should expect.

Will I be able to sit down with someone and go through my essay with them?

Is it more of a seminar with general guidances?

Is it useful? (I ask this on behalf of the CCC'ers who are busy balancing work / school / etc)

I'm asking this because I want to plan my applications process accordingly.

Hopefully some De Anza Alumni, or anyone who has attended the program really, can chime in on this.

Hopefully I don't sound like I'm trying to be too pretentious...this app rush is kind of getting to me.

i’ve been to afew and iono what to tell u
its more like a seminar…
they basically explain the questions…
read some examples…
give u afew ideas…
basically if u already know what admissions wants to expect from ur essay taylored for ur major… it won’t help much
if u don’t its better than u ask what the admissions for ur major is specifically looking for

lets say berkeley haas they really wanna see leadership in ur essay or EC as much as possible… english and others are really different…

but hey if u already have an idea what to write on and have some momentum on it… a small gust of wind is not gonna push ur swing any higher…

i heard other people talk about being able to sit down and talk thru ur essay or let them edit or w/e
but of all of them i’ve been to…
LOL I WISH

Where are these workshops located, I’ve never seen one where I’m at.

if ur from a CCC
check with ur honors program or ur advisors
or even ur school website - transfer events or w/e its called

Any updates on what you learned today?

^^^ Yes, that would be helpful.

i had to bail on the one i was supposed to go to, but i’ll definitely be going to the writing workshop and app workshop next week. def will update then
