I need a list of top engineering undergrad schools.
Thanks!

MIT Cal tech Stanford UCBerkley UIUC Umich are all good.

Cornell as well

In no particular order:
MIT
Stanford
Berkeley
Caltech
UMich
UIUC
Cornell
Purdue
Princeton
CMU
UT Austin
Northwestern
Rice

is PennState up there?

The top 21 from US News are below. What major are you specifically looking for?
1. MIT
2. Stanford
3. Berkeley
4. Caltech, UIUC
6. Georgia Tech
7. Michigan
8. Carnegie Mellon, Purdue
10. Cornell, Texas
12. Princeton
13. Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Wisconsin
16. Penn State, RPI, Texas A&M
19. Rice, Minnesota, Virginia Tech

For girlfriendmb, since she's asked a specifec question about my school:

So yes, but part of it depends on what you want to study. And although EE isn't currently ranked this year, it has been around the #20-25 mark the last few years, so I'm guessing it's fallen just below the top 25 mark this year.

among these top engineering schools that are listed above, do you guys know which ones offer the best educational experience?

MIT (nerdy and geeky)

Stanford (good experience, beach girls)

Berkeley (43% Asians, Will you have problems with it?)

Caltech (overly geeky), UIUC (a lot of drinking, big parties, isolated)

Georgia Tech (don't know much)

Michigan (high school spirit, large large undergrad body, freezing)

Carnegie Mellon (for Computer Science geeks) , Purdue (dont know)

Cornell (high suicide rate, cutthroat competition), Texas (idk)

Princeton (preppy, but great experience, but can you get in?)

Johns Hopkins (competition is insane), Northwestern,(preprofessional) Wisconsin (large large student body)

Penn State (large large large student body), RPI, Texas A&M

Rice, Minnesota, Virginia Tech ( lots of kids from Northern Virginia who think highly of themselves)

"high suicide rate"
Myth. Cornell's is below the average. I dont know about the competition.

Stanford (good experience, beach girls)

Uh, beach girls? What beach? The only good beach anywhere near Stanford is at Santa Cruz, and that's a good hour away, if you have a car, which many Stanford students do not.

I don't think you should expect 'beach girls' or anything or that sort at Stanford.

GATech (huge lecture classes, lots of TAs, rampant ruthless computer grading, 78264263:0 boy:girl ratio)

oh also add that "but can you get in" to stanford. i got into princeton, couldnt-nah i wont say i couldnt- didnt get into stanford

Carnegie Mellon is comprised for far more than computer science geeks thank you very much. SCS is one of the smallest colleges on campus. We have drama nerds, engineer nerd, archie nerds, english nerds...and then those business majors:P

if u want beach girls, ucsd (11th...graduate... usnews - http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/eng/brief/engrank_brief.php) ;).

obviously, usnews isn't the best source, but it's a good starting point for further research into programs :).

Beach girls are in SoCal, not NorCal.

"Beach girls are in SoCal, not NorCal."

Good to know because that is what is really important in choosing an engineering school.

-A

UCSD girls? At the beach?

well, no one said the girls had to be from ucsd per se....;)

i heard ucsd girls were nothing spectacular. but im sure theres a lot more girls in sd than the ucsd girls.

most popular beach school is uc-santa barbara which has a private beach. its also known as uc-STD. I'll let u figure that one out.
