need lots of opinions

I am working on the essay prompt "Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals". Ive halfway through on what i believe is a strong essay but i keep thinking its going to be considered off topic because the prompt says "current" and "future" activities while my essay uses topics from my freshman and junior year about band/tennis.

Can someone tell me if its ok to use topics from freshman-juniors years or if i HAVE to use activities from my senior year?
Also I see a lot of websites saying that you should be listing achievements or "selling yourself" while others say to be personal and tell a story so what should I do?

*also if anyone if willing to read my essay please leave an email

Thank You

tennisguy,

DON’T laundry list your activities. They already have all that in the other parts of your application. Consider a single activity or a few if you can draw commonalities - and yes it can be from an earlier year, and then dig deeper into that activity, how it made you grow, feel, change.

Your band/ tennis activities will work well if you can draw from the experiences something fresh and new that is not listed elsewhere in your application.

I think you are on the right track.

Ok thank you. Would you be willing to look over my essay? If you can, please leave your email.
