Ok, I need some help. I go to the Alabama School of Math and Science. I have been going there for 2 years. I had a nineteen when i was accepted as a freshman into the school. Now, 2 years later my score has only improved one point.

I have problems that some others don't. I have never been a good standardized test taker and to make matters even better, I have a major case of dyslexia and I always screw up the bubbles and stuff. Can anyone give me some advice. I figure I am smart enough to probably make a 29 or so, but my inability to take standardized tests is kiling me.

Request separate testing conditions from what is normally given. I think that you're alloted more time. At least with more time you are less likely to screw up the bubbling.

Definitely try to get some allowance for dyslexia. And then get a stack of prep materials and practice, practice, practice... There's plenty of advice on preparation in this section.
If you can gain admission to and succeed in such a school you can make a good score on the ACT.

how much science does a person need to know in order to get a good score on the science part of the ACT? In what subjects as well. CAn someone pst what is needed in order to get a good score on the science section. Thank you.

Do you have a professional diagnosis of dyslexia? If not, get one. See ACT's services for students with disabilities. If you do not already get accommodations at your school, you should try to get them NOW, even if you do okay in school, in order to be eligible for the same on the ACT. Accommodations you may be able to get include extended time, listening to the test on a cassette instead of having to read it (personally I think this would be impossible, but then I don't have any problem reading), and being allowed to mark your answers in the test booklet instead of having to fill in bubbles. Your guidance counselor or someone at the school has to fill out some of the paperwork. You need to act immediately, or as soon as school starts in the fall if you have to wait until then, because the process can take some time.
