Need Master's advice!

I am choosing between two schools for a Master's. The first option is a professional science master's from Rice in Environmental Analysis and Decision Making. Alternatively, I'm looking at a Master's of Research in Natural Hazards at University of Bristol in the UK.

Which do you think would lead to better job prospects in the US? What about PhD prospects abroad and in the US? Is Bristol a recognized name by major employers and universities? I really like the research at Bristol, but if it won't really help my career progress here in the states, it might make more sense to go to Rice.

Any input would help immensely!! Thank you!!

You really can’t go wrong with either institution. Rice is ranked 17th in the US and University of Bristol is ranked within the top ten universities in the United Kingdom.

The only concern I would have is how leading research labs in the US view University of Bristol. I think more companies would be familiar with Rice.

Do you plan to be employed in the US or UK?

Thanks, NY Scholar!

I’m not entirely sure, ultimately I’d most likely work in the US – however, I’d like to do a PhD before joining the workforce, and perhaps spend some time working in Europe.
