<p>Just use ^(1/3). I have a TI-89, and I did notice that a lot of things require you to go to the Catalog, which can be annoying.</p>

<p>To get a decimal answer, you can either hit diamond after you've typed in the equation before you hit 'enter,' or just put a decimal point after one of the numbers in your equation. For example, typing in 1. / 2 would give you .5 instead of 1/2. </p>
<p>To enter something like log base 10 of 9 (or any base, actually), hit diamond 7, and type in your numbers so that it looks like log(9,10).</p>
