Need Minor

I am a senior in high school and I am about to apply to colleges, but I am torn on what I want to minor in. I have decided to major in sociology, because my plan is to get my bachelors degree in sociology and then go to law school to become a civil rights attorney. I know that sociology is often considered a “lazy major”, but I have decided to go ahead with it because I believe it will help me in my career. So maybe a minor that is a little more challenging. Also, I have looked at psychology and if I can’t decide on anything else then I will probably minor in that.

Philosophy majors typically do well with law school admissions and it’s seen as a very rigorous major. Make sure to keep a high GPA though and try for summer internships in various non profits. (These are often unpaid, so choosing a college with financial support for unpaid summer internships or that is low cost so that you can afford these internships will be important.)

no need to minor for LS admissions. Just take classes in what you enjoy. That way you’ll earn A’s, and lots of 'em.

btw: not sure how/why a Soc major will help you be a better lawyer, but whatever.

If you want to help your future, in whatever path it may take, make sure to add some quant classes, such as Stats. Just good for building critical thinking skills. Also a big fan of Philosophy.

Major and minor in whatever will give you As! (Except majors and minors such as prelaw, criminal justice, etc., which are seen as weak.)
