^ I disagree. If you put in a lot of work and show your dedication to volunteering (soup kitchen, library) this summer till december, it could really help.

^ I should’ve been more clear… It’s not a filler in general, but in his case it would be because he’s already an eagle scout, which takes a hell of a lot of work and determination over a long time.

Yes! I am really glad I decided to get my eagle scout anyways. It got really close to my birthday, and I wasn’t sure how much benefit it would actually be. So volunteering eh? What about attempting to get an internship with a local financial firm? Maybe both?

But dude, it was definitely good to get your eagle. i cant say that it looks great to every adcom, but it sure won’t hurt. I think that should help a lot.

Start a club! Beginning a school chapter of any of the National ______ Honor Societies (pick a subject and just fill in the blank, seriously) looks fairly impressive, and if you’re involved as a leader and organize activities that benefit the school and your community, that’ll set you farther ahead. Aaaand added benefits of leading an honor society include /ridiculous/ amounts of information and resources to help you actually make a difference with the group.

Great ideas. The starting a club might be tough because I am the Treasurer of my school and I approve the funding of new clubs (Conflict of interest). But… I may be able to help someone else start a club, and I could probably bring an honors society chapter into the community college. I like it!
