Need more school !

I'm a high school junior , that goes to a good NYC high school.
GPA: 3.6 right now , but probably by the end of the year it is going to be a 3.7 & maybe when midyear grades come out, even a 3.8.
SATs: I'm taking in june. I took a few practice tests, and i would project my score to be around 520V 620M 600W.
I was planning on majoring in something dealing with math and finance, such as actuarial science, or maybe even accounting. But something dealing with math.
I have EC's . such as a part time job , student govt vice pres , volleyball team, volunteer.
What schools would u recommend?
I was looking at Binghamton, baruch, fordham, stony brook .
My dream Schools (Duke, Notre Dame, and UCLA) but there is a very slim chance for me there.
I would like to go to a school in a large city, or if not a city, then someplace warm. lol
Thanks =)

Get that SAT score up. Or better yet, try the ACT. You may score higher.

Do you need $$?? If so, try applying early to University of San Diego (the private one). They give big merit $$ and it's not too far from LA. Plus this year I heard from them in mid Decemebr and they gave me $15k /year with the acceptance-nice to have that early to fall back on. Also, University of Arizona does rolling admission with great merit money early-I got $10k/year. The schools are very different, but nice, warm and lots to do!

I don't want to discourage you, but I live in CA and UCLA is looking at average GPA ofover a 4.0 for residents. Also, I got in early to Notre Dame and I have a 3.9 uw and 4.3 weighted w/a 34 on the ACT and tons of sports/ecs.

Check out CollegeBoard's college finder (or whatever they call it). There are a few others out there, where you enter your stats and interests and they spit out some options. With sub-700 SAT scores, your chances at Duke, Notre Dame, and UCLA aren't great. However, there are LOTS of very good schools out there that don't play the uber-competitive college admissions game where you could be successful and enjoy your undergrad experience. Good luck.

I think that you would have a chance at Boston University if you got your SATs up a bit. Duke, Notre Dame, and UCLA are unrealistic at this point, to be honest. However, you could always give them a chance. The University of Miami (Fl) is both in a warm place and is in a large city, but it is a bit of a reach, however you would definetely have a chance if you get your SATs up a bit. I would also look at Fordham, Loyola Maryland (outside of Baltimore), College of Charleston, Temple and St. Josephs (Philadelphia), American and Catholic (DC). This would give you a broad range of reaches, matches, and some safe bets to look at in addition to the schools you have already mentioned. Good luck!
